Hoosier Heart O Little Chip

(Pepper)

Pepper came to us in the fall of 2007.  She is one of our first does.  Her previous owner, Margot Cassel, told us she was selling her due to the fact that her other goats gave Pepper such a rough time.  She has thrived here on our farm and has become the Herd Queen.

We bred her the first time (her second)  to Lazy Q Farms Ice Cold Stare owned by John & Karen Herrick.  She stayed with them for a month and was missed terribly while she was gone.  I think John fell in love with her too - she was definately spoiled when she got home.  She is the sweetest girl in the world.  In July of 2008 she gave us a beautiful set of twins, Dani and Speck (Four Z's Miniz Ice Dancer and Four Z's Miniz Speck O Pepper).  Dani was retained to be our daughter's doe and Speck was sold to Ashley in Ohio as a buck.  She had an easy delivery and is a great milker - she likes to give me kisses when we're done.

Pepper gave birth to triplets.  Sire is Kaapio Acres El Rojo Diablo.  The two little bucks both came out backwards but after our initial shock we got their airways cleaned out and they both are doing great.  (Tip:  If you ever have one come out hind feet first - once it's out - hold it up by it's back hips and clean off it's face, stick your finger in it's mouth and pull out any gunk in there.)

Aly showed Pepper in the Wells County 4-H Fair and took the Reserve Champion Senior Doe and Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Doe.

Holding the trophy for her is our niece Callie.

Pepper graced us with quads.  Had a little trouble with the boys - had to help one out and then left the barn too soon - and missed the other boy - sadly, he didn't make it.  Her doelings and the buckling I helped are all alive, well and ornery.  She had a case of mastitis for a little bit so I bottle fed the three while she was getting over the mastitis - needless to say, they are extremely friendly now.

Left to right they are - La Belle Pepe' (Bell Pepper but we'll call her Bella),

Tsunami (cause he was such a trouble maker that night and there were

Tsunami warnings in Hawaii that day) and Chili Pepper (Chili).

One of the does will be retained - we just haven't made the decision yet

because it's a real toss-up.

Pepper blessed us with triplet bucks this year.  We went with a theme this year for all the boys and named them after Heisman Trophy winners.  So these three boys were named Tebow, Ingram & Newton.

Pepper wasn't supposed to be bred this year - but Mr. Blue didn't think I gave him enough girls so he snuck out and got four of the five girls I didn't want bred!  Anyways - Pepp gave us a beautiful set of buck/doe twins.  The Doe is blue-eyed like her daddy!

Brimstone Chimera

Brimstone really isn't as rounded as he looks in the picture.  It was their first day outside the pen and I think he was just a little scared.
